Life and Movement

  • by

We want to help you take your first steps towards a new life.

Our thoughts and sensations do not occur in a vacuum. We are creatures strongly influenced by our context. Everything around us has an effect on us, however imperceptible it may be on a day-to-day basis.
Moving to another country, another culture and another society is a drastic change of context and, therefore, a drastic change in who we are and who we can be. Our job at Mikmak is to accompany these big changes by being familiar and close among so many new things that can sometimes be very intimidating.

Why move?

The world is a vast and huge place and, as such, diverse. There are times when we simply find ourselves in the wrong place at the wrong time for our well-being to flourish.
It also happens that some of life’s events are imprinted on the places where they took place and so it is that neighborhoods, people, buildings acquire forever an unpleasant effect.
Be that as it may, there is a fine balance between personal responsibility and our dependence on our environment. It is true that working on oneself first is the best position to take when faced with a problem, but sometimes a 180-degree change is the right decisio

Movement and life

Life is movement. Our thoughts, including, of course, our predictions about the future, are dramatically influenced by our present state. Our memories of the past are also influenced by our present state.
This influence of the present state often induces paralysis and immobility as the future looks gray wherever we look with our mind. We can get out of this labyrinth by modifying the context in which these thoughts emerge.
That is why movement is the key. There are times when overanalyzing the situation is simply letting our current anguish overshadow all potential alternatives. The reality is that as soon as we jump into the void and make the slightest movement, our thoughts begin to refresh and new doors open before us. It’s called positive feedback.

You are reading this for a reason

Fear of change should not overshadow another reality which is dissatisfaction with the current situation. If you are reading this, it is because you are thinking of leaving the place in which you are now. That feeling of weariness is an internal alarm that you should take into serious consideration.
A new place not only represents endless possibilities and the inherent motivation offered by novelty as a phenomenon, a new place also means leaving the old place.
Often you don’t know what you’re going through until you finally get the weight off your shoulders and exhale in relief for the first time in a long time. That first feeling of lightness usually comes when we finally make the decision, when we allow our mind to step into a new place without guilt and explore it with the determination to act.
Guilt is a very common phenomenon when considering big changes. The very idea of flirting with such a change and then continuing as before is perceived as a betrayal of one’s life. That is simply a self-imposed pressure to overcome.

We always say here that the first move is mental. First of all, if you are reading this, allow yourself to travel with your head, then we will take care of the rest.

There are bets that make sense

If there is one thing that capitalism captures in an illustrative way, it is the relationship between risk and profit. It is true that the temptation of unrealistic profit is the source of gambling addiction and a whole battery of bad decisions in all areas, but it is also true that there are bets that make sense.
Right now you don’t know who you could be, or who your relatives could be. All you know is who you all are right now and, given that you find yourself reading this, you most likely feel that potential is not fully realized.
In this case the gamble is reasonable and it is the right decision. Everyone’s personal mandate is to realize the potential within and finding the right context for that seed to germinate is part of the adventure we are all embarked on.

Keep the reward in mind when evaluating risk, as in this case the reward truly justifies the gamble you are considering.

You are not alone

You are neither the first nor the last to be considering a relocation and there are many of us working to accompany you and welcome you to your new destination.
There are entire communities of people who have done the same thing you want to do and find pleasure in facilitating the insertion of new adventurers, and then there is us.
Our mission is to be part of processes that have meaning. For us, work without a mission and meaning is neither attractive nor motivating. We like to know that we are part of a chain of hope and happiness and we are grateful to be good news in the lives of those who trust us and choose us. Feel free to ask us any questions you may have and, if you decide to embark on this journey, we want to be your partners!
